About the 5-Minute Showcases

As part of the registration process, we ask if you/your group/organization/band are interested in participating in a 5-Minute Showcase session. There are two sessions, one on the first day and one on the second day.

Short 5 Showcases are often featured at industry and Contact events. They are a great way to break into new markets. Buyers (aka presenters) attend these showcases to learn about new artists or to sample your work. Following your 5-Minute showcase, you will receive verbal, constructive feedback from our group of trainers about your performance.

Five-minute showcases are no tech/low tech affair but we will have technician on hand to assist. More information will be sent to you when we confirm your participation.

About Travel Subsidies – How to qualify

A limited number of subsidies are available. Please review the information about how to qualify.

Applicants must indicate their need for a subsidy on the registration form (leaving the field blank does not constitute a request). Priority will be given to BC based, emerging artists 34 years old and under, living and working outside of the South West region on a first-come, first-serve basis. Participants who received a subsidy for past workshops are not eligible and we cannot offer subsidies to artists living or working outside of BC.

For a regional map, click here. Distance/mileage will be calculated using Distance Charts. Subsidies are only available to those living a minimum of 50 kms one way from Burnaby.
South West up to $100 (more than 50 kms one way from Burnaby)
South Central: up to $300 per artist/band/organization
South East: up to $300 per artist/band/organization
North: up to $500 per artist/band/organization
Vancouver and Gulf Islands: Case-by-case basis as will be offering a workshop in Victoria in early 2018.

To qualify for a subsidy

Applicants must attend the workshops both days in order to be eligible. A request for a subsidy does not guarantee a subsidy, nor do we guarantee the full amount. Subsidies should be used to cover travel expenses.

We will confirm your subsidy within two weeks after receiving your registration. The amount eligible depends on the number of subsidies requested; the number of people travelling, distance travelled, and estimated costs. Subsidy cheques will be issued at the workshop

Please contact us if you have questions about registration or other questions.
