Workshop Important Information

Please read prior to completing your registration form

About the Pitch or Perform Sessions

As part of the registration process, we ask the primary registrant if you/your group/organization/band are interested in participating in a Pitch or Perform session. There are two sessions, one on the first day and one on the second day.

There will be a limited number of opportunities to pitch or perform. Five minute pitch or performs, which are often featured at industry events, are a great way to break into new markets. Buyers (aka presenters) at industry/Contact events attend these sessions to learn about new artists or to sample your work. Once you have completed your pitch or perform you will receive verbal, constructive feedback from our group of trainers.

The pitch or performs are no tech/low tech affair. We are strict about your 5 minutes and you should be aware that your set up is part of your time. We will have technician on hand to assist. More information will be sent to you once we confirm your participation.

About Travel Subsidies – How to qualify

A limited number of subsidies are available. Please review the information about how to qualify.

Applicants must indicate their need for a subsidy on the registration form (leaving the field blank does not constitute a request). Priority will be given to BC based, emerging artists 18 to 34 years old, living and working in the South East region on a first-come, first-serve basis. Participants who received a subsidy for past workshops are not eligible to receive a subsidy for this workshop. We cannot offer subsidies to artists living or working outside of BC.

For a regional map, click here. Distance/mileage will be calculated using Distance Charts. Subsidies are only available to those living a minimum of 50 kms one way from Nelson.
South East: up to $300 per artist/band/organization
South Central: up to $300 per artist/band/organization
All other regions will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

To qualify for a subsidy

Applicants must attend the workshops both days in order to be eligible. A request for a subsidy does not guarantee a subsidy, nor do we guarantee the full amount. Subsidies should be used to cover travel expenses.

We will confirm your subsidy within two weeks after receiving your registration. The amount eligible depends on the number of subsidies requested; the number of people travelling, distance travelled, and estimated costs. Subsidy cheques will be issued at the workshop.
