The Mechanical Licensing Collective – or “The MLC” for short – is a new non-profit music industry organization designated by the U.S. Copyright Office pursuant to the historic Music Modernization Act of 2018. The MLC was created to serve music publishers and self-administered songwriters, lyricists, and composers.
