Reigniting the Passion for Presenting and Touring with Jerry Yoshitomi, Meaning Matters LLC
Tiffany Ballrooms, L2
This session is inspired by concerns that:
• We’re not able to have time for substantive discussions about the present/future of our art forms and what we can each to do advance them.
• The often transactional nature of our work can get in the way of thinking about why we got into this business in the first place and what we hope to accomplish over the long term.
• Our ways of meeting each other have failed to create sustainable relationships.
At Pacific Contact’s first morning, we’ll cluster together in discipline/genre based small groups to discuss the current state of affairs and the presenters and artists/agents/managers who are addressing the present and advancing the future. Each cluster group will begin with brief commentaries by an artist/agent/manager and a presenter, followed by facilitated conversations within the cluster discussing short/long term goals and ways to achieve them. We’ll then break into a series of rotating one-on-one speed dating conversations.
