BCTC News

Canadian Heritage
Requests to Honourable James Moore to reinstate Canadian Heritage financial support to the BC Touring Council have been turned down. The Minister’s reply to BCTC Chair Margo Gram and others writing support letters on behalf of BCTC state that in accordance with  government’s ongoing goal to fund projects that identify and deliver measurable, tangible results; that contribute to program objectives; provide the best value for money; and meet the needs of Canadians and since the total demand for Canadian Arts Presenters Funding (CAPF) exceeds available resources, only those projects that best meet these criteria can be deemed eligible for support.

The Minister encouraged BCTC to continue working with Canadian Heritage department officials in developing future projects.  BCTC responded to that invitation and has applied to the CAPF program for 2013 and 2014.  BCTC wishes to thank all those who signed our online petition.  The over 800 signatures included some wonderful testimonials and comments which confirm the valuable role BCTC plays in the touring and presenting sector.
